Anti-rat pipe lining: keeping rodents from climbing up the sewer
By Antoine Côté / Pipe lining

It is a problem rarely talked about, but one that urban building managers know well: rats climbing up the sanitary sewer all the way to the bathrooms.
How rats get in
Older pipes are assembled in sections. Over time, the joints shift and open up, enough to let a rodent through. Once inside the private line, the rat can climb all the way up to the plumbing fixtures.
Why the usual solutions fail
Poison and traps treat the symptom: as long as the path exists, more rodents will follow. Patching a single failed joint does not solve anything either, the next joint over will open up in turn.
The structural solution: continuous lining
Anti-rat lining installs a single, seamless epoxy liner inside the pipe. The result:
- No more joints, so no more entry points
- A smooth, hard wall that rodents cannot chew through
- A pipe rehabilitated in the process: watertight, stronger, better flow
All of it without excavation, through existing access points, usually in a single day.
Who is it for?
Residential and commercial buildings in Montreal's central neighbourhoods, condo boards, restaurants and food businesses: anywhere the presence of rodents is an unacceptable health and reputational risk.
A camera inspection first confirms the entry point, then we close it for good.
